Update

Alright so I'm just copying and pasting this from another website so that I can update all of you... Or whoever happens to read this which is probably not that many people... Anyways, I will update my journal on what's been going on lately in my life. I will start with school and go from there...

School: As I said in my last update I did drop out of University, it just wasn't my thing and talking to people who have gone through the whole University thing it's really not worth it either. I've come to the conclusion that it should be mandatory for all students wanting to pursue a post secondary education to go through College first. There is so much pressure put on students in High School to go the Universy route yet I know so many of my friends who have gone the University route and have nothing to show for it. They have the degree but nobody will hire them without experience and they can't get experience without getting a job and unfortunately not many University programs offer co-ops... Or another problem many of my friends are facing is that they go though their program in University expecting to get a job in a certain field and they get their diploma then when they go to apply for jobs in their chosen field they're told they don't have the proper training that they need a College degree. My brother just finished his University carreer last spring and he got his Bachelor of Arts in History and Law and yet... No jobs. He is now attending Cambrian College, taking Civil Engineering. As I said, I think it should be mandatory for every post secondary student to get a college degree in their field first just so that they can at least get their foot in the door for the industry they're interested in; and if that's not good enough for them at least they have a job they can lean on while they're in University to get the diploma for the higher paying job in the same industry, that would also eliminate tons of debt that most students have because of how much more expensive University is and much more exepensive University will be in the very near future.
So away from what I think all post secondary students should do and over to what I have done. Gone are the days of stressing over University, gone are the days of staying up all hours of the night to finish the paper on the dead guy I care nothing about, let us welcome the days of getting real hands on training! When I was at Laurentian I was technically majoring in Sociology but my favourite class, despite the professor and the grade I received in the end, was my Theatre class. Okay I suck at speaking in front of a group and my acting is horrible, but with that class I became more interested in theatre and being more interested in theatre I went to more theatre productions and became curious as to how they made everything work. Who gets to play with the lights? Who built that beautiful set? Where is the music coming from? Who did the har, the make-up? And where did they get those costumes? These questions, and my parents constantly bagering me on going back to school led me to the Theatre Production program at Cambrian College. Not only do I get the answers to all of my questions but I get to be the girl playing with the lights; I get to be the girl who built the beautiful set, who is playing the music; I get to be the girl who did the hair, the make-up; and I get to be the girl who made those costumes. It is an awesome program, it really is, the teachers are all in the industry they all know how it is out there and they take every oportunity to pass that first hand knowledge onto the students. Another bonus to this program is that all the plays and productions that go on at the college are put together by the students, we build the sets we hang the lights, we are the stage managers, the prop managers, the lighting techs, and the sound techs. We are everything, every aspect in the play a student had their hands on it. Ontop of that because the teachers are in the industry the students also get the oportunity to work on several of the special events going on around town such as the Festival of Trees, or setting up a complete sound system in a hotel. Needless to say despite the very long and tiring hours I am having a blast at school this year, there is still some bookwork, we do still have regular classes, though sometimes they're shuffled arround or canceled all together to make room for a on site call, but even the bookwork and the class work is a lot of fun, there is a great bunch of students, out of the ones that are left, and like I said, the teachers are fantastic. I would recomend this program to anyone, anyone at all who ever wanted to learn about what goes on behind the scenes and who wants to stick their hands in what goes on behind the scenes, we've been told the pay is not good for the first ten years and you'll be moving around non stop going from job site to job site but it's worth it, and I can't wait to get out there, it's only a two year program so it won't be long. Next time you're watching a play or a concert or if you're at an event in the market square ask yourself, who put this together? Look way in the back of the room behind the lighting or sound boards, behind the curtains, or up on the scafolding and you might just find me.

Relationships are next, eh? Well not much has changed when it comes to relationships, I'm still with the same amazing guy I was with last time I updated but our relationship has moved forward a lot since my last update. He and I decided to move in together when things weren't very good between my parents and I, so we have our own apartment which isn't much but it's good enough for us for now. We've had a few couch crashers as of late, his friend Mark who turned out to be a lot more trouble then he was worth, to me anyways, and right now we have another couch crasher, my best friends boyfriend from Toronto... He's pretty good so far, there was a minor issue and I decided to wander around town for a few hours in the snow listening to Christmas music, but it was no big deal. He hasn't racked up a 180$ hydro bill yet so it's all good now. Other then that we've been thinking about our future together and getting married and stuff, so that may be my next announcment, you never know.

Work... Well work is still good I guess... I still like most people who work there and most of the managers but as I'm sure many people have found out my store Linens N Things is going out of business... It's getting really sad getting to work and seeing the big "Going Out Of Business" sale on the outside of the building and all the signs inside the store saying the same thing. It bothers me even more when the customers come in and say that our sales aren't enough that our prices are why we're going out of business and everything else. Nobody actually cares that who knows how many people are loosing their jobs. Really the reason we're going out of business because of everything that's going on in the United States and the stupid customers like the ones who are coming in complaining about our sales, who ask for tens of coupons because we bypass the rule that you're suposed to only have ONE per customer. Anyways, let's not get into that... So my store will be closing near December and January... As for a job after that I will most likely be working at Kitchen Bits and Showers and Sheets they're both owned by the same people one of the owners is my oldest brothers friend.

Anyways... I'm sure that bored you all to tears so nobody is reading way down here at the bottom so I'm going to go BLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAH haha and nobody is going to read it...
